Send your child once a month to the park district to play with some toys and do some art projects. Your child will be able to play with legos,
blocks, dolls, the kitchen toys, computers, and crayons and markers. This is extra time for your child to play and socialize with other preschool aged children.
Join us for our themed parties! We will make a craft, eat lunch and play games that go along with the theme. Children can bring an appropriate toy with their name on it to each class.

Jake and the Neverland Pirates
Come and solve a “pirate problem” with Jake, Izzy, and Cubbie. We will make pirate hats, have pizza for lunch and go on an adventure. Date: Friday, Feb. 17
The Backyardigans
Join Pablo, Tyrone, Uniqia, Tasha, and Austin on a backyard adventure. We will have peanut butter and jelly for lunch, make a craft and play games. Date: Friday, March 23
Chipmunks
Alvin, Simon, Theodore! Hang out with the chipmunks and make music with them. We will make a musical craft, have macaroni and cheese for lunch, and play some games. Date: Friday, April 20
Baseball
Whether you’re a Cubs or White Sox fan you are sure to have fun in this class. We will make sports pennants, have hot dog and chips for lunch and play some t-ball. Date: Friday, May 11
Did the groundhog see his shadow? Are we going to have 6 more weeks of winter? Sign up for this class to find out your answers. We will make a Groundhog’s Day craft, see if we can see our own shadow and eat chicken nuggets and fries for lunch with dirt cake for dessert.
Make your very own gift to give to that special someone. We will use a variety of materials to make a beautiful gift for someone special. We will also wrap our gift and make a card.
Each week we will learn about a different and unique animal like chinchillas, wildebeests, and kangaroo. We will learn what they eat, where they live, and some of their behaviors. At each class we will make a craft and have animal crackers for snack.
If you know someone that loves cookies and other sweets, then come to this class and make some for them for Valentine’s Day. We will use frosting, sprinkles, and other things to create delicious treats for our special Valentine.
It’s Valentine’s Day and Clifford the Big Red Dog wants to spend it with you. We will watch My Big Red Valentine, make a craft and eat hotdogs for lunch.
Run, jump and play in this class. Each week the preschoolers will be able to use different equipment in the gym like the scooters, hula hoops, and parachute to release some built up energy.
Chugga, Chugga, Chugga, Chugga Choo Choo! Come to the park district and learn about trains, make a train craft and play with some trains. Train Car Sandwiches will be served for this class.
Does your child love being active and play different sports? Then they will love this class. Each week we will learn a new sport and play a short game. We will focus on rules, basic skills, and safety.
This four week baking class will have you creating mini dessert masterpieces. Recipes will include apple dumplings, cookie bowls, cake balls, and mini dirt cakes. Come and bake a dessert each week to share with your family. We will use different ingredients and send home each of the recipes so you can make them again.
Let’s whip up some delicious snacks to share with our friends and family. Each week we will make a new creation and bring the recipe home so we can make it again with our family. We will go over kitchen safety and manners each week. Please wear an apron or play clothes, we may get messy.
Come dressed in green as we celebrate the Irish’s favorite holiday. We will pretend like we are Leprechauns and make a craft and play some games. We will eat mini corn beef sandwiches and french fries for lunch.
Join us during Spring Break for a different story each day. We will read Snow White and make taffy apples, The Three Bears and make oatmeal, and 101 Dalmatians and make puppy chow. We are sure to have fun playing with our friends and cooking.

Hop into this egg-citing class and help decorate Easter eggs. Each child will receive a dozen eggs to color and decorate. All supplies will be provided. Please wear play clothes, we may get messy.
Join us each week as we make new spring crafts that you will be able to decorate your house with for the season. We will use paints, tissue paper, scissors, glue and a variety of other craft supplies to make beautiful crafts for the spring.
If your child loves kicking the ball around, sign them up for this class. They will learn how to dibble, pass and kick the ball. Classes are designed to improve listening skills, enhance physical development and learn about teamwork.
Batter Up! Come and get ready for the summer t-ball season. Children will learn the basic fundamentals of throwing, catching, hitting, and basic baseball knowledge. Age appropriate equipment will be used for safety. Children should bring their own baseball glove.
If you love to be creative then sign up for this class. Each week we will learn new ways to make and decorate cupcakes to look like different things. Please wear an apron or play clothes we will get messy.
Learn about different types of trees in our area and celebrate Arbor Day with the park district. We will make a tree craft and eat peanut butter and jelly uncrustablesfor lunch outside. We will also play games and go on a nature walk.
Come to the park district and enjoy a Hawaiian Luau. We will make grass skirts and lei out of creative craft materials. Pigs in a blanket, fruit salad and fruit punch will be served for lunch.
Come celebrate Cinco de Mayo a day early by having a Mexican Fiesta at the park district. We will make sombreros and break a piñata after we eat tacos for lunch.
In this class children will learn about safety, equipment, types of fish in the pond and the rules of fishing. They will also learn the love of the sport by fishing at our lake. Don’t worry if you don’t have a pole, the park district has loaner poles available for you to borrow. The fee includes the cost of a YCPD fishing permit, bait, and a snack.
Come to the park district and paint flower pots and plant some flowers to bring home and watch them grow throughout the spring. Please wear play clothes we may get messy.
Join us for a picnic in our gazebo by the lake. We will grill hotdogs and have chips and juice. Afterwards we will enjoy games outside and look for the different kinds of plants and animals around the park district.
Show mom how much you love her by making a special gift for her for Mother’s Day. We will make a beautiful gift and card for her and wrap it up to take home.
Not ready for school to be over? Bring your child to the park district for some more practice with counting and colors. Each day we will read a story, make a craft and have a snack. Preschool skills will be emphasized in this program.
Does your child love helping your make their lunch? Then sign them up for this class. Each class we will make something new for lunch and eat it. We will discuss kitchen safety and good manners. Make sure you wear play clothes.
If your child needs to burn off some energy before summer starts, bring them into the park district. We will play games and run around in the gym. If the weather is nice, we will also go outside. Please wear gym shoes.
Enjoy a summer of fun with friends at preschool camp. Children participate in a variety of developmentally appropriate activities including stories, music, arts and crafts, games and much more. Blues Busters Munchkins is designed to prepare your child for our Blues Busters Summer Camp. It is also a great way to get your child ready for preschool. Price includes art supplies, snack, t-shirt and instructors. Your child must be 3 years old by June 1, 2011 and they must be toilet trained. A one-time $10 family registration fee is required for those in Munchkins. If you have other children in Blues Buster or Teen Camp the one-time family registration fee is $25. Stop by the office to pick up a packet.

You are never too young to learn to play t-ball! Children will be taught the basics of t-ball such as catching, throwing and base running. Participants will learn batting skills by hitting a rag ball off a tee. All children will receive a t-shirt, but must provide their own mitt. Fee includes: instruction, t-shirt and awards. An evening game will be played followed by an awards presentation and picnic at the end of the season. Each parent will supply a team snack once during the season. A list will be handed out on the first day. We try our best to accommodate roster and team suggestions. Due to the number of children we cannot guarantee all requests.
