Chili Night
Bundle up and head over to the park district for a bowl of York Center’s famous chili. The night will also include ice skating, snowman building competitions, relays and plenty of hot beverages to keep you toasty. Date: Friday, Feb. 24 Time: 6:00-8:00pm
Family Treasure Hunt
The search for SPRING is on! Each family will get a treasure map and clues to start their quest. The family that finds all the right clues and discovers the treasure wins. The search starts in the park, so you will need a flashlight. We will finish the event by eating SPRING Rolls and rocking out to Bruce SPRINGsteen. Date: Friday, Mar. 9 Time: 6:00-8:00pm
Family Fiesta
Join the park district for fun and food at this month’s fiesta. We will challenge one another in a limbo contest, create a fun festive craft, and of course break a piñata. Tacos and Ultimate Nachos are on the menu for tonight so don’t forget to come hungry! Date: Friday, Apr. 27 Time: 6:00-8:00pm
The York Center Park District gym will be transformed with green, purple, and gold as we celebrate Mardi Gras New Orleans style. Let your little girl dance the night away, get pampered in our nail salon, or give her a chance to make a magical Mardi Gras mask all her own. Light appetizers will be served at the beginning of the evening and we will end with an ice cream sundae bar. Your little girl(s) will get to choose all their toppings to create a delicious ice cream treat. Try winning your sweetheart a bunch of great prizes, which will be available for purchase at our raffle and professional pictures are included in your registration fee. Male chaperones only.

Hop on over to the York Center Park District for a delicious brunch with the York Center Bunny. He will be making a special visit to York Center this year for pictures with kids, and of course our famous Egg Hunt. Come for the delicious buffet style breakfast of pancakes, sausages, fruit, and pastries, while enjoying some special entertainment. Seating is assigned, so please take note of the “Register By” date for this event. When registering, please note all names in your party. A special registration form will be available at the front desk. Fee includes brunch, games, contests, entertainment, picture with the bunny, and an egg hunt for everyone so don’t forget your basket.

Help York Center as it preserves our natural environment this Earth Day. Come out with us as we tend to our prairie restoration area at Knolls Park. We’ll pull non-native plants, pick up garbage, trim branches, and spread some mulch. This is a great way for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to earn their environmental patches. After we clean up, all participants will receive a hotdog, chips and a drink.

Are you someone that’s always wanted to tell a fish story of your very own? Then sign up for our spring Trout Derby at Lake Yelenich Park. Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories from heaviest to most trout caught. Refreshments will be available. No fishing will be allowed Apr. 25-27.

Do you want to be a fireman or policeman? Did you ever want to see a big truck up close and have the opportunity to climb aboard? Now is your chance come join us as we fill up a parking lot with big trucks and police vehicles. There will be hands on experiences as participants can crawl around and learn more about the heavy duty trucks! A variety of fire trucks, police cars, and other vehicles will join us for this special event!
Spring is a great time to clean out your closets and garage. Bring your priced goods to the annual Garage Sale. All participants will items. Fee includes: Two 10 by 10 spaces, two tables, two chairs and we do the advertising! There will be many people checking out your treasures because we have combined the Garage Sale with the Annual Touch a Truck event at Knolls Park.
If you love shopping, then this event is for you. There will be plenty of vendors selling great items such as Avon, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple and more! If you are a vendor and interested in renting a space, please contact the York Center Park District office at (630) 629-0886. We will send you a registration form and explain all the great details.
Join the York Center Park District as we get ready to kick-off our best season of summer yet! Enjoy games and craft as you check out the facility and meet the summer staff and camp counselors. Not signed up for summer camp? Not a problem! The public is welcome to come and check out the variety of different summer programs and events that we have to offer. You can even register on the spot! Save room for dessert as we will be featuring a make your own sundae bar at the end of the night.
