    All Day Camps
    We offer additional care on days when school is closed for holidays and traditional school closing, such as teacher institute days. This program follows similar guidelines as the After School Program, but is offered from 7:30am- 6:00pm on days when children do not have school (excluding weekends). We ask that you be prompt at the time of pick-ups, as the program ends at 6:00pm Campers MUST provide their own lunch and we ask that parents use disposable lunch bags labeled with the child’s name. Once again we follow the District 45 calendar and we “fill-in” for most days they do not have school. Note: A minimum of 8 participants is required in order to offer this service.

    Spring Break Camp
    Campers will enjoy spending some of their Spring Break at the park district. Campers will participate in a variety of activities including crafts, games, movies, sports, fieldtrips, and more! Wearing play clothes, gym shoes, and appropriate outdoor wear is a must. Campers must provided their own lunch using a disposable lunch bag labeled with their name. Pick up a Spring Break Camp packet from the front desk and be sure to register by Monday, March 19 because there is a minimum of 8 participants in order to offer this program.

    After School Recreation
    Children who attend participating schools in District 45 (York Center, Stevenson, and Westmore) and District 44 (Manor Hill) will be picked up by bus and transported back to the York Center Park District each day after school. The After School Recreation program is a fun place to make friends, play games, create fun crafts, work as a team, and receive help with homework. Each week is given a theme that our activities are planned around. The list of themes can be found in the ASR packet, which can be picked up at the front desk.
    This program follows the District 45 school schedule.

    Winter Wear
    Prepare yourself for that cold winter weather with some one-of-a-kind winter wear you have made yourself! This class will teach you basic sew and no-sew projects such as how to make fun creative hats, scarves, and mittens. Each week you will be given a variety of warm and fuzzy fabrics to choose from. We will focus on one accessory each week. All materials will be supplied.

    Movie & Pizza Nights
    Parents, do you need a night out to yourself? Then drop you kids off at the York Center Park District for our Movie & Pizza Night and take yourself out on the town! The kids will watch a G or PG rated movie while they enjoy hot pizza right out of the oven along with juice. It’s the perfect amount of time to run some errands before the weekend, or take yourself out to a nice dinner!

    Days Off Open Gym
    Play Floor Hockey, Basketball, Volleyball, Kickball, and any other game that you would like to play. We will even have access to all the gym equipment including the scooters, jump ropes, and hula hoops. This program runs on District 45 no school days. Note: Parents MUST sign a waiver release & emergency information form in order for their child to play.

    Floor Hockey
    It’s the heart of hockey season and it’s time for you and your friends to put on your Blackhawks jersey and head over to the park district for some floor hockey fun. This class will teach you the basic rules of floor hockey, how to properly use the hockey stick to pass and shoot, as well as puck handling. We will spend the last part of each class playing a scrimmage game against friends. This program is designed for fun with an emphasis on safety. Teams will be formed each week.

    Valentine’s Day
    American Girl
    Come to this unique Valentine’s class and bring along your American Girl Doll or any other similar sized doll. Enjoy decorating a special two piece holiday outfit, adorable pink, red and white jewelry. Then take a trip to the beauty shop where we will add colorful clips and ribbons to your dolls hair just in time for Valentine’s Day. Your favorite doll will look simply adorable!     Paints & More
    Become an artist and let all your emotions shine! In this class we will use our imagination to create our own masterpieces with a variety of paints and painting techniques. We will use finger paints, acrylics, water paints, and more! We will be getting messy in this painting class so please come dressed appropriately.

    Valentine’s Day Crafts
    Spread the love with these heartfelt Valentine’s Day crafts. Each participant will go home with their own homemade heart door hanger and Valentine’s Day card.     Mardi Gras Party
    Happy Fat Tuesday! Come celebrate with the park district as we throw our very own Mardi Gras Party. Children will get a chance to use feathers, sequins, and glitter to make their own Mardi Gras mask to match their beaded necklaces. We will indulge ourselves in King’s Cake, a traditional Mardi Gras treat so be sure to come hungry!

    Candy Creations

    Hip-Hop 101 & Party
    Hey boy’s and girl’s, do you have a passion for dancing? Do you want to learn a few basic moves so you can show-off at school, school dances, parties, or just dancing for fun with your friends? Well our experienced professional dancers can help you! In Hip-hop Class 101, you will learn basic moves that will make the crowd go wild! Dance moves that will make you look cool, energetic, and will make you stand out above the crowd! Also, you will be able to listen to various types of music that will pump you up and make you want to dance. Want to look awesome while your dancing too? In Hip-hop Parties you will be able to listen to music, and make your own customized Hip-hop necklace, or bracelet, that will make you look outstanding while you are dancing.     Open Gym Free Play

    Spring Ceramics
    Break out those paint brushes and join us for our spring ceramics class. Participants will get to choose from a variety of different green ware pieces each week to paint. Paint and brushes will be provided and all pieces will be fired on site in our kiln. Children will be able to paint up to two pieces each week. Please wear play clothes and short sleeves as our painting can get messy. Pieces painted on the last week will be fired and can be picked up on April 2.

    Berlitz Language Classes – French
    This colorful, engaging program gets children excited about learning a new language!     Potted Plants
    Spring is upon us, and what better way to welcome it than doing a little gardening. In this class we will decorate our own ceramic watering can. We will use our newly painted watering can as our flower pot and plant a variety of different flowers. What fun will it be to watch these beauties bloom throughout the spring!

    Shamrock Silliness
    Join in the St. Patrick’s Day fun and head to the park district for some shamrock silliness!     Leprechaun Supper

    Asphalt Coloring Fun
    Take your creative drawings off the paper and onto the asphalt with bright and colorful chalk provided by the park district. We will sketch our imagination along the pavement with our friends. Prizes will be awarded for more creative design, largest picture, and best use of color. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved to the gym where we will create large paper murals instead.     X Marks the Spot
    Ahoy Matey! Join in on the YCPD treasure hunt as we search for the missing gold! We will make a special pirate hat and eye patch before we set sail to find the missing treasure. By foot we will travel throughout the park district searching for clues to unveil the missing chest. We will look high and low and journey through un-faced obstacles.     It’s “Bean” a Good Season

    Tie-Dye Fun
    This class will teach you the basics of tie-dye. Instructors will show you different ways to fold and scrunch t-shirts, pillowcases, and other items to create amazing tie-dye designs.     Split, Spare, Strike
    Come spend some time with York Center Park District at Stardust Bowl in Addison for some Spring Break fun. We will spend the afternoon bowling two games and meeting new friends! Fee includes two games of bowling, shoes, transportation to and from the bowling alley and staff supervision. Children can be dropped off and picked-up at the park district. We won’t just have regular egg dye in this class; we will also have markers, crayons, glitter, and show you some new ways to make your eggs excellent.

    Mixin’ In the Kitchen
    Grab your apron and get ready to cook. This class will introduce children to the art of cooking. Sign your little one up to learn basic lunch and dinner recipes, kitchen skills, and clean-up. Each week instructors will walk participants through step-by-step instructions of different recipes. We will have time to play in the gym while our dinner cooks and there will be plenty to take home at the end of class for the rest of the family!

    Sock Monkeys
    Have you ever wanted to make your very own sock monkey? We will be making our own monkeys using step-by-step instructions right here in this class! You will be able to decorate and style your monkey any way you like. Fee includes sock monkey kit, supervision, and craft supplies. No sewing experience needed. After we create our monkeys we will be able to play some games with them in the gym.

    Pet Treats

    Spring Magic Class
    Amaze your family and friends! Children are guaranteed to have a great time as they learn a wide variety of fascinating tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind reading, and more! All materials are provided, and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and always learn tricks that are age-appropriate. If you’ve already taken this class, it’s okay, since brand new tricks are always taught at each session.

    Unique Purses
    You’ve seen the coolest purses in the stores. Come create your very own unique purses. We will make three purses made out of a pair of your old jeans, t-shirt, and a recycled book! Come create your own fashion in a fun way. Materials will be provided, and you can bring in any of the materials to personalize your purses.

    Clay Creations
    In this class we will use a variety of different colors of polymer clay to create fun shapes, sculptures, and characters. Instructors will walk you through instructions step by step to form shapes like teddy bears, dragons, and even beads for a necklace. We will bake our projects in the over for you to take home the following week.

    Apples, bananas, and strawberries, oh my! This class will bring all different fruits together to make delicious treats and desserts for us to try. We will get to eat our treats at the end of class, and might even have enough to take home for the family!

    Prairie Path Clean-Up
    Help York Center as it preserves our natural environment this Earth Day. Come out with us as we tend to our prairie restoration area at Knolls Park. We’ll pull non-native plants, pick up garbage, trim branches, and spread some mulch. This is a great way for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to earn their environmental patches. After we clean up, all participants will receive a hotdog, chips and a drink.

    Gorgeous Gardens
    Plant some spring flowers for your garden this season. In this class we will decorate our own flower pots with paint before choosing some fantastic flowers to plant inside. We will provide all the materials from gardening gloves to potting soil. Please dress to make a mess as we will be digging in the dirt!

    Soccer Basics
    Get ready for soccer season this year at the York Center Park District! This class will teach you all the basic soccer skills you’ll need to be a future all star. We will go over rules of the game, skills and drills, and even play a scrimmage game at the end of each week. This is a non-competitive class and no equipment is required, just be sure to wear gym shoes and bring a water bottle. This program is designed for fun with an emphasis on safety.

    Fishing Fun
    In this class children will learn about safety, equipment, types of fish in the pond and the rules of fishing. They will also learn the love of the sport by fishing at our lake. Don’t worry if you don’t have a pole, the park district has loaner poles available for you to borrow. The fee includes the cost of a YCPD fishing permit, bait, and a snack.

    Cinco de Mayo Party
    Join us for a Mexican Fiesta at the park district! In this program we will make our very own sombreros and maracas. After our crafts are complete we will take turns breaking open a piñata outside. We will finish our class enjoying some delicious nachos.

    Imagination Station
    Do you have a creative brain? Can you make something out of nothing? This class will be sure to challenge your creativity and imagination. Each week participants will be given a mystery bag filled with all different types of arts and craft supplies for you to create a work of art all your own. We will work together to combine our creative juices to make a group piece as well. Please dress to make a mess.

    Ice Cream Creations
    I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM! In this class we will make our very own delicious flavors of ice cream by hand, using the York Center Park District’s ice cream ball! Each week we will make a new flavor to snack on at the end of class. We will have a variety of toppings available for you to create your own sundae too! Don’t forget to bring your sweet tooth!

    Making Memories for Mom
    Make Mother’s Day extra special for mom this year with some homemade gifts. This class will help you make the perfect Mother’s Day gift for your mom this year. We will use all kinds of craft supplies from paint to paper, glue to glitter so please dress to make a mess!
