Parents need a night out? Drop your children off at the park district
one Friday a month to watch a movie and eat pizza. All of the
movies are G or PG rated. Parents must sign a waiver registration
form.
Get ready to fight off the school work by getting fit at our new
park. We will meet each afternoon at Knolls Park to participate in a
variety of drills and running sets to help us bounce back into shape
for the new school year. Don’t forget your running shoes!
Learn the basics of fishing with the YCPD. We will go over the basics
of equipment safety, rules, and then put our skills to the test.
Don’t worry if you don’t have your own pole the park district has
poles to loan you. Price includes daily fishing permit, instruction,
bait, and a light snack.
Be prepared to dig into some messy crafts! We will have fun making
a variety of hands on crafts. We will make our own goop, playdough,
paper mache, and much more! Come dressed prepared to
get messy!
Throw on your swimsuit or clothes that can get wet and join us as
we play some water games! We will throw water balloons, play
splash tag, and run around in the sprinkler to cool off on a hot summer
day! Participate in some water color crafts and enjoy a light
snack!
Put on your hiking boots as we get ready to set off for an adventures
day into the wild. In this class we will take a walk around
Knolls Community Park and find nature that will inspire us to
make crafts, paint some paintings, and play some wild animal
games!
You asked for it and we listened. Send your child to this special
one week camp to get ready for the real deal. Children will be able
to attend all day camp, all week long from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
or you can choose the 9:00-3:00 p.m. time slot. Children will have
fun playing a variety of sports, making crafts, playing games and

Soak in the beautiful summer scenery with this crafty paint class!
Each week we will get some of our inspiration by taking our paint
brushes and paper outside and enjoy an afternoon sitting outside
painting our favorite summer sceneries! We will use a variety of
paints, watercolors, crayons etc… but it may get messy so come
dressed prepared!
Show us your mad game skills! Show off to all our friends your
rock band/ guitar hero talent! Enjoy eating pizza while competing
in different levels of the popular video game! Bring all your
friends and we will even make a tournament! This class is offered
every second Friday during the months of June, July, and August.

Stop by Monday nights and play the park district’s most popular
game. Teams will be formed each week to play different Dodgeball
games. There may be some nights that we will play outside at the
park (meet at the gym first) Note: Parenst MUST sign a waiver
release & Emergency Information form in order for their child
to play. If the minimum is not met by 5:15p.m., the program will
be cancelled for that night.
It’s never too early to begin learning another language. Young children
have a unique ability to pick up another language quickly and
easily. Take advantage by involving them in a Spanish class that
includes arts and crafts, games, signing and other fun and exciting
ways to learn the language.
Gather your friends and spend an afternoon at the YCPD as we
play a variety of team building games. We will learn how to work
together and participate in a variety of ice breakers, and group activities.
We will be teaching each other good sportsmanship as we
run around in the gym so come dressed comfortable.

Day! Put on your tool belt and we will help you make an unforgettable
present for your Dad! Wrap it yourself and sign the
card to take home that day!
Are you a girly girl? If so this is the class for you! Have you ever
thought of creating your very own sparkly bright colored suntan lotion?
Well, if not this will be one of the exciting projects you will
enjoy at this special class. A girly girl also needs soft sparkly lips
to show off her summer tan so how about creating your own
sparkle lip gloss? Class wouldn’t be complete without awesomely
decorated beach bags to carry all your creations around in all summer.
Let’s also not forget to design a unique summertime necklace
using special gems and jewels. This is a class you will remember

Children will be taught the basics of t-ball such as catching,
hitting, throwing, and base running. Participants will learn
batting skills by hitting a rag ball off a tee. All children will
receive a t-shirt, but must provide their own mitt. Fee includes:
instruction, t-shirt, and awards. An evening game will be played
followed by an awards presentation and picnic at the end of the
season. Each parent will supply a team snack once during the season.

Grab your garden hat and gloves and come to the park district to
plant some of your favorite flowers and plants. We will paint our
own pots and pick which flowers we want to grow. We will enjoy a
snack and make a flower craft!
Grab your microphone and your rock star outfit and join us
for a musical party! We will karaoke to some of Taylor Swifts
most popular songs, enjoy a snack and get creative with a
musical craft!
Grab the most popular toy this season and come have a party with
us at the park district! You will be able to design your own home
for your zhu-zhu while making a variety of other pet related crafts!
Your zhu-zhu and you will have a snack and enjoy lots of fun in
this class!
Come dressed patriotic as we celebrate the Birthday of our Country!
We will have our own holiday cook out with hot dogs, chips
and ice cream for lunch. Come make a variety of crafts and play
games. We will even have a costume contest for those who dress
the most patriotic!
Burn off some energy with us at the park district! Each week we
will play a variety of tag games and sports. Some days we will play
inside at the gym while others we will go outside to the park to run
around! We will work in partners as well as groups so be sure you
bring all your friends!
Participants will enjoy a four-week bumper-bowling program at
Stardust Bowl! We will have a striking good time bowling two
games, and meeting new friends in this youth league. Fee includes
two games of bowling, shoes, a ride to Stardust Bowl and staff supervision each week. Children will be transported to and from Stardust Bowl. Children will be picked up at the park district.
Put your creativity caps on and gather all your friends to come
make your very own bracelets. In this class we will enjoy making a
variety of bracelets, necklaces, rings and more! Each week we will
be able to choose from a wide selection of colorful beads while we
learn to make a new type of jewelry! We will even take a little
break to enjoy a light snack!
We will pack up our favorite snack and lunch and take a walk over
to Villa Roosevelt for our very own picnic! Each week we will
have our picnic and play a variety of games at the park! If it’s raining
we will enjoy our activities in the gym! We will provide the
lunch be sure you bring your energy!
Bring your favorite fairy tale story, your favorite princess doll, and
come dressed up as your favorite fairy tale princess! We will enjoy
a girl’s afternoon as we read to each other our stories, participate in
a princess craft and enjoy a snack!
Bring on over your friends and your board game skills! Each week
we will play a variety of board games. We will compete in partners,
groups or even as individuals! Participants will have the opportunity
to make up their own board game and present it to the
group to play! Each winner will receive a fun prize at the end of
the day and we will cool down with some lemonade and a light
snack!
Come learn the basics to sign language. In this class we will learn
how to sign the alphabet, sign our name and learn how to have a
small conversation in sign language.
Learn the perfect golf swing in this introductory to golf class. Each
day we will learn the basics to golf and participate in a variety of
drills. Learn the concentration it takes to putt, the strength to
swing and the fun golf has to offer! On our last day we will take a
trip to a miniature golf course to play a game and show off our new
skills! The park district can loan you clubs however, if you
have your own please bring them.
Parents are you looking for the perfect summertime class that doesn’t
include a weekly commitment for the entire summer? Your
daughter will love our four week taste of cheer and pom. Girls with
our without experience will have a great time learning a variety of
cheers and an awesome simple pom routine. Girls that have taken
this class in the past will be guaranteed a whole new selection of
cheers. A parent will need to be present for the first few minutes of
the first class in order to sign a waiver. Kreative Kreations will
provide inexpensive pom to those who would like to purchase

Grab your magical hat, wand, and spirits as we celebrate Harry
Potter! With a new movie coming out this summer we must celebrate
and get creative with our magic! We will enjoy practicing
some magic tricks, making a magical craft and even watch a little
bit of the latest Harry Potter movie!
Children are guaranteed to have a great time as they learn a wide
variety of fascinating and mind-boggling tricks! Amaze family and
friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind reading,
and more. While the tricks may appear difficult, you’ll discover
that they are quick to learn and easy to perform. All materials are
provided, and each receives a magic kit to take home. Children are
grouped by age and always learn tricks that are age appropriate.
Additionally, you can sign up for this class again and again since
brand new tricks are always taught at each session!
Children will be able to create beautiful ceramic pieces from a variety
of greenware at the Park District. All brushes, paints and kiln
time included. We will even get the opportunity to make our very
own creation to paint! You will be amazed at what you can create
in the fun ceramic program!
Do you have a bunch of pictures but, not sure what to do with
them? Are you creative and want to put your skills to use? Join us
at the YCPD as we will get busy with scrapbooking. We will even
supply the book! Each day we will work on a new page in our
scrap book. We will provide the materials and you bring the pictures!
Join us in the kitchen as we make some silly foods! Will decorate
cookies, make light snacks, and get creative with our recipes! We
will even have time to make fun crafts with certain ingredients!
Make a necklace out of pasta noodles, decorate a painting with
sprinkles, and come up with your very own recipe!
Come join us as we make up our own stories! Each week we will
write our own stories based on the theme. We will get creative in
our story telling, participate in a fun craft, and enjoy lunch outside
by the park! Come with your thinking caps on!
Want to learn how to make a volcano erupt? Or make your own
lava? Join us every Wednesday for the month of August as we participate in a variety of science experiments. Each week we will
learn how to do a new science trick. You will have so much fun
you will go home teaching your Mom, Dad, and friends what you
learned!
Show off your mad wii skills at the park district! Gather all your
friends and come compete in a variety of Wii games! We will eat
pizza for lunch while taking turns at playing some fun competitive
games!

and for children experienced in the sport. The goal of this
camp will be to improve existing skills and learn new skills
through a fun and positive teaching style from our experienced
adult staff.

Have you seen the new Transformer movie yet? Join all your
friends from the Transformer movie as we have a party! We will
play games, make a transformer craft and enjoy a snack. You can
even bring your favorite transformer action toy with you with your
name on it.
Bring your favorite American Girl (or doll) to the gazebo for a funfilled
summer afternoon. Enjoy an ice cream sundae, float or banana
split together. We will read some of the books in the series,
play games, make a craft and talk about our dolls.
The park district picks up the children at participating schools
(York Center, Stevenson, and Westmore) and transports them back
to the park district. The After School Recreation program is a fun
place to make friends, play games, create fun crafts, work as a
team and more! Each week’s activities are planned around a theme.
